Hounds: Here Comes Your Man
He’s arriving. Only half of him has made it into the frame so far: one soulful eye, one floppy ear, a nose already leading the way. But the message is clear. Your man is here, and he dressed up for the occasion, in a pink collared shirt sculpted in a basketweave of hand-combed plaster.
Named for the Pixies song, this is a portrait of that moment at the front door, the one every dog owner knows by heart. Lean in and you’ll see his coat drawn strand by strand in rainbow pastel, with flecks of coral, mint and violet hiding in the scruff. The cropped composition makes him feel caught in motion, as if he’ll step fully into view any second.
Tall and narrow, he’s made for an entryway (where else would he wait?), a hallway, or the slim wall beside a door. He pairs naturally with Hounds: It Will End in Treats and Hounds: Waiting to be Called.
16” W × 45” H
Plaster Knit and pastel on wood panel
